Mafia 3 gameplay and features
Set in 1968 in New Orleans, you’ll take on the role of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran whose family have always been involved with organised crime. Lincoln wages war on the Italian mob in New Bordeaux.
“Family isn’t who you’re born with, it’s who you die for. Now back home, in a reimagined New Orleans, Lincoln is set on rebuilding his life, but old ties keep him from leaving the city. It will take more than a few friends to make it in this new world,” says the description.
Mafia 3 open world gameplay
“Intense gun fights, visceral hand-to-hand combat, white knuckle driving and street smarts will all be needed. But with the right crew, tough decisions and some dirty hands, it’s possible to make it to the top of the city’s underworld. It’s time to create a new family.”
You’ll have to chip away at the influence of your rivals so you can, eventually, go after the top dogs. When you’re not having a good old fashioned shootout, Mafia 3 includes missions such as wiretapping targeted areas (which will allow you to see enemies through walls).
You can also upgrade your car and do sneaky things like get your rivals phone lines cut off so they can’t call for reinforcements. The open world promises to be a key feature and the big improvement compared to Mafia 2.

Mafia 3 trailers and gameplay videos
During E3 2016, another Mafia III trailer surfaced giving us a good look at 1960s New Bordaux, complete with shooting, driving, fighting and chopping off peoples fingers. While it’s more of a cinematic trailer than a gameplay trailer, it does a good job at piquing our interest and we must admit, we’re pretty excited for the game to come out later on this year. Take a look at the trailer below:
If that’s not enough, there’s a 20 minute gameplay clip available too, courtesy of the guys at IGN.
